Intelligent design of new plantings is key to meeting owners’ objectives as well as matching species to site and ensuring robust and resilient woodlands, which can adapt to climate change and threats from pests and pathogens. We have significant expertise and experience in establishing mixed plantings.
Planting
Whether for afforestation or restocking, we work closely with selected forest nurseries in order to acquire the most genetically suitable, high quality planting stock.
Maintenance and Tending
Maintenance of new plantings is fundamental to successful stand establishment and can include mechanical and chemical control methods. All young stands require some tending work to improve general health and condition as well as quality. This can involve the creation of inspection lines, cleaning, re-spacing, brashing, and formative and high pruning operations.
Planting, maintenance and tending plans can also be drawn up, contractors engaged and operations supervised.
